Johnathan MacInnis is an 19 year old powerhouse tenor and independent recording artist based out of Canada’s East Coast. Johnathan’s musical style has been influenced by the likes of Josh Groban, Elton John, and Michael Buble
Johnathan’s 3rd studio record is a 6 song EP entitled “Closer Than Yesterday” that presents a mix of original material, and covers of classics hits such as “Hallelujah” and “When The Saints Go Marching In”
The EP was recorded at award winning Lakewind Sound in Point Aconi, NS by producer Aaron Lewis and engineer Mike Sheppard. Featured musicians on the record include Fred Lavery, Lyndon MacKenzie, Richard Burke, Aaron Lewis, and members of the Toronto Symphony.
Closer Than Yesterday hits stores on September 26th 2013, and will be available for digital download via ITunes, and Amazon.
Johnathan was born and raised in East Bay, Nova Scotia surrounded the scenery of beautiful Cape Breton Island to mother Margaret Anne MacInnis, and the late Steve MacInnis. Johnathan started playing piano at the age of 6, and began singing at age 12, taking lessons from Shelley Allan of Take Note Music School for a whole decade between the ages of 6-16.
Johnathan released his first album “Solo” in 2009 at the age of 14. The record featured 9 covers (5 of which were Elton John tunes), and one original titled “Has To Be Us” which has since been re-written and re-recorded for his 2013 release. His 2nd album “Tonight” featured 4 originals and 7 covers, and was released in 2011.
