Create your very own Louisbourg adventure by choosing from our many scenic and historic trails: Lighthouse Trail, Mi’kmaw Trail, Old Town Trail, the Ruins Walk on site at the Fortress of Louisbourg, Simon Point Trail, Wolfe’s Redoubt Trail, Royal Battery Trail. While you’re in the area – Gooseberry Cove is also a very beautiful and popular hike!

Day One – Overnight

The only proper way for an explorer to sleep: 18th century-style! Phone or email ahead to book your camping spot within the walls of the reconstructed historic site: 902-733-3552, louisbourg.info@pc.gc.ca. You haven’t seen stars until you’ve visited the Fortress after dark.
Day Two – Morning
Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site
Early risers will be treated to a special site as the sun comes up over the Fortress. Cook up a cup of coffee and let the sea air inspire you as you explore the Fortress grounds in the quiet morning hours.
Explore the Louisbourg boardwalk and watch the fishers come back in. Stop at one of the many wharves and watch the catch being offloaded . You can purchase cooked crab fresh from the sea for your dinner at some of the wharves, or perhaps purchase some fresh lobsters (in season). Be sure to take the short drive out to the Lighthouse if you haven’t already. The views are spectacular!
Day Two – Evening
Louisbourg Playhouse
Head to the Louisbourg Playhouse for evening entertainment. The Playhouse was once the scene of a bear fight in the Disney Movie Squanto, and is modeled after the Globe theatre.
